Dear Immihelp:
I am a single seventeen-year-old girl and studying in the USA with F1 student visa. My school year won't end until mid-June 2007. However, my parents in my homeland will be interviewed for their immigrant-visa application at the US Consulate in mid-May and my name is also on the interview list. I cannot quit my studies to return home now. My parents don't want to delay their interview because they are so eager to reunite with my grandfather who is not very well now.
Can my parents ask the Consulate to interview them first and me later on when I finish my studies and return to my homeland?
Can I wait until my parents immigrate to the USA to adjust my status from F1 to green card holder? If yes, how much do I have to pay and how long does the procedure take place?
Thank you very much and best regards.
