Re-Entering in USA during processing of Greencard.

I would like to know folling matter.

1.I am fammily Immigrant,entering USA.in second week of Nov.2007,from India.

2.I intend to go to Canada in the third week of Nov.2007.

3.I intend to reenter USA.by end of Dec.,from Canada.

My query is:
1.How long it will take to get Green card?

2.In absence of greencard,what produre I must follow to renter USA.from Canada?
