Affidavit of Support Question

I will be filing Affidvait for support (I-864) for a relative and may have to show my assets as my income may not be enough. Can I show both my US assets as well as my Indian assets (bank balance etc.)? Or just the US assets are accepted?

If you are ...

... disclosing your Indian assets in United States when you file your US taxes, yes in that case you can add that income to your local income.

However, if you're not disclosing those assets or income here otherwise, then you can be in trouble from the IRS, pick your battles here and do the math.

Of course, you have to have disclosed that income on your Indian taxes that you filed. You cannot NOT have shown that income in your Indian tax returns and expect leniency from either of the governments if charged.
