  • What after AOS Interview??

    Hi,

I am married to a US citizen and applied for a GC. We just appeared for our AOS interivew. The interview according to us went extremely smooth. He asked us few questions, saw our pictures and to our surprise he was smiling and having a good laugh with us!!

He took the I-94 part from my H-1 (1-797) document. He asked for our driver's licenses and made copies of it (although I myself had those). Then he asked my spouse who is US citizen to submit 2 passport sized pictures and that's it he gave us a big smile and a firm handshake.

According to my attorney everything went well. What do You guys think??

He took my I-94 does that mean a positive result ??

Please let me know I am really eager to know what does this interview means??

Thanks for all Your help and such amazing guidance You are providing to so many of us confused immigrants!!

Well, did he say approved or not? what did the IO say?

Did your name check clear? you know more than we do about this, because you were present at the interview.

      Hi PraetorianXI,

Thanks for a quick reply. Well my issue is that he did not say anything. And as per my Attorney's guidance I did not ask the IO about the result. I was told by my Attorney not to speak until asked to do so.

Anyways from the gestures of IO it did not seem negative. But I wish I could have known a sure answer.

I checked the processing dates for I-485 (AOS) for my center and its currently May 15th 2007 and my application date was June 1st week 2007 so hopefully I should be able to get a reply within 60 days. Well till then I guess I have to keep my fingers crossed.

Is there anyway to know what was the decision at the processing center??

the decision is not made at the processing center... the decision was made by the officer and you should know something within 30 days from the interview... if approved or not. It usually only takes a few days.

This is a big problem, not knowing what happened... you should have asked.

          Hi PraetorianXI,

Yeah You are right this waiting period is torturing me. Anyways we received the I-130 Approval notice in mail. The letter was for my wife (my sponsor) that the petition has been approved and go ahead and take care of I-485 Procedures.

I was confused since I have already done all that and also done with the AOS interview. So I called the customer service center and the representative was very nice to me and she said that this is NOT approval of GC. Your I-485 decision would be available to me within 60 days.

But she said that I should be happy that atleast I-130 got approved which is the first positive step in this process.

Well I am cautiosly hopeful and just praying to Allmighty that the approval comes to me asap.

          Thanks.
