I-751--Petition to remove condition:

Good morning—

I wanted to ask if my wife’s Conditional Residency expires on March 29th and we have been married for over 3 years and she has been in the United states for over 3 years do we need to complete I-751 form or do we just request for Citizenship?

I would like to avoid paying $465 plus $80 biometric fee when she should be a citizen already?

Thank you for the quick response…Hate to sound redundant but if I apply for citizenship now because of the 3 years married living in the US (Florida) would this be sufficient or do I need to remove conditional residency first prior to becoming a citizen? I just hate to pay the $600 and then an additional $600 for I-400 citizenship.

No, that does not work.

Person can't apply for citizenship after being married for 3 years. Person must have greencard for 3 years as well.
If you don't apply to remove conditions before two years over, she will be illegal in this country and she may be deported. She will loose her greencard, forget about citizenship!!
