  • I-485 got rejected; File not in system; Attorney not responding

    Hi,

I filed for an adjustment of status for my mother through an Attorney. She had her fingerprints and medical exam done. Then the attorney called and said that her I-485 was rejected because UCIS did not receive her medical forms. He mentioned that he will file an appeal and we should hear back from a local immigration judge. It has been 8 months. I called both UCIS and the DOJ and found that her file is not in the system.

The attorney is not responding; has not sent me the denial notice; and is ignoring emails and phone calls.

What do I do now ? Refile on my own or can I appeal ?

    Thanks in advance,
    Srini

Pay a visit to the lawyer's office and demand action (or even your money back!) it has been 8 months already, what are you waiting for?

best thing is complaint to bar council in your state, and also consumer affairs.

He is answered to them, if any misconduct is found on him, his license to practice as attorney will be cancelled certain period of time.

      You must writ to them.

Thanks. I will be doing this next week. What concerns me is that her file is not in the system (neither at USCIS or DOJ).
