Need Help Please

I am hoping someone can help me with this situation. My friend is a married foreign woman who is currently living in the USA as a permanent resident and has applied for her GC. If she divorces her husband can he stop her GC application and if so would she have to begin the application process all over again? She's been waiting nearly three years for her GC. Would it be better to file for divorce BEFORE or AFTER receiving her GC? Thx.

Err.. she can not be a permanent resident and have applied for her GC... When she gets the GC then she is a permanent resident.

Before I even dig deeper. Answer this question, what kind of visa did she use to enter the USA in the first place?
