  • GC Holder - N400 in Progress. Plan to marry in India. Options ?

I am currently a GC Holder and filed an N400 citizenship application at the beginning of this year. Planning to marry in India. Reading a lot about various options such as K-Visa, Fiancee, Immigrant Visa.

Just checking to see what would be the best option and if any of you have any personal experiences with any of these options that you wouldn't mind sharing.

Any input towards this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

All those apply after you become a citizen. Do you have an interview date close enough?

K1 - For Fiance. Need to get married in 90 days upon entry to US

K3 - For spouse if married in other country.

The comparison for all three is discussed here.

My interview date is not set yet.

In the comparision chart between fiancee, k-visa and immigrant visa, it is mentioned that immigrant visa can be started even while i am still holding green card and the application can be upgraded once my citizenship completes.

I am just trying to validate my options ahead of time and if I should wait to get married until I become a citizen or marry now while I am still holding GC.

Depends on how far you are away from getting your citizenship. As the wait for GC holder is greater than 5 years to bring a spouse, it doesn't make sense to do it.

Upgrading an immigrant petition filed as a GC holder is possible, but will not make much of a difference AFAIK.

If citizenship is not far way, wait for it as you have many options to choose from while for a GC holder, there are absolutely no options.
