Hi,
My son is a U.S. citizen and on his sponsorship I wish to apply for a green card. I understand I will need to submit a marriage certificate with the application.
However, I do not have one as registering marriages was not common at all when I got married. I however have an affidavit which states among other things details about my marriage, my wife's name and date of marriage etc. Will this affidavit be sufficient in lieu of the marriage certificate for the above purpose? Please let me have your opinion.
