  • Who needs to be present at family based green card interview?

I am sponsoring my mother's green card. My husband is a joint sponsor (filed i-864A).

Do we both need to be present along with my mother at the permanent residence interview? Or, is it enough if only I go with my mother to the interview.

Who all need to be present at the interview?

Petitioner and Alien. You and your mom, but you will need the sponsor's financial documents, employment letter, etc.

The petitioner doesn't have to be present; only the applicant; however; if you go, it would help with providing papers that the counsel may ask and your mother may not know. I went with my mother, and I spoke for most of the part; and asnwered all the questions for her and provided all the extra papers; the counsel seemed to like it because I speak English, and it went fast; and my mother got the visa the same day in the afternoon; but now the some embassies are not given the visas right away; sometimes they mail it to you.
