Does immigration know if a Green Card holder has been outside of the USA for more than 1 year?

What is the actual story? Are you trying to fool around the system? Prove to me that you resided in the US would suffice.

how long a permanent resident is allowed to stay outside the US before he/she looses his/her rights as a permanent resident??Comment

technically, 1 year (minus 1 day).
with a re-entry permit 2 years (minus 1 day).
