Non Availability of BC

Hi,

I completed my papers for I130/I485 concurrent filing for my father. To fulfil the requirements for a birth certificate, I submitted two affidavits from relatives since he was born in Pakistan (United India) and no birth certificates are available. I have been told by friends to expect a RFE for birth certificate since INS wants to a certificate of "Non Availability of Birth Certificate" from a civil authority.

- Does any one have an experience with such an RFE
- Who can provide such a certificate
- Can the embassy in San Francsisco help in such a cerficate

Birth Certificate

I was in the same situation. I was informed by some friends and I got a NON-AVAILABILITY of records CERTIFICATE from the Municipal Authorities in Karachi, Pakistan.
You can also apply through a relative or friend in your city in pakistan.
