  • Question about translating foreign documents for I-130

I have a question concerning translating my and my wife's marriage certificates. My understanding is that anyone besides she or I could translate the documents. Is that correct?

Also, for a marriage certificate, would the translator do a template of the actual marriage divorce up to the lines and same fonts as the marriage certificate, making it look just like the foreign language original one, and then translate it, or would it just be a simple line by line translation?

Also, does the translator have to be certified? And lastly can the translator be abroad? (I currently live overseas with my wife) or does he have to be in the US?

You can translate it yourself if you are able to do so properly.

Do not try to imitate the document font and such, just do line by line and try to keep the format the same.
