Its a different situation. My husband is USC and i am uk. Last year i came to visited him in usa and we got married, we tried to adjust status many times but finances kept going wrong so we didnt get to. I ended up leaving (about a month over stay) and we are both trying to work and make money so we can try again and just be together.

Can anyone help as to how we do this now?

We are not financially ready for me to move right now. BUt how can i start the process? In a few months i should be ok to book flights and go over. As long as im able to work in the states me and my husband will be fine.

From abroad this is a lengthy process. You are looking at 8-12 months before you can legally travel to the USA to be with him.

it all starts with him filing an I-130 for you, you are seeking an Immigrant Visa to travel to the USA.

It is the way it is, you have no right to demand it to be another way.

it is an easy proces if you applay in embasy.
if you documents ar OK will be 3 months proces only.

if you are in england call USA embasy in London and they will give you all nesecery info.

precedure is much faster in embasy then to aplay in USA.

You are not able to work in USA if you dont have imigration visa (green Cart)
if they give to you imigration visa.

when you land in USA you have to go streat to imigration office in airport and give to them one bunch of paper which embasy will give to you with your visa.

imigration in airport then will start the proces of Green Card, within 2 weeks they will post GC to you.

when you recive GC you have to go at Social Security office and aplay for SS number. only when you recive SS number you are alegible to work legaly in USA.
