  • I-864 Fee for Parents

I have applied for my parents. I've paid Affidavit of Support processing fee ($ 70) to NVC. According to their instructions: "You only need to submit one $ 70.00 fee, which will cover both parents" So I send $ 70 with bottom portion of fee bills.
Just today, I got letter from NVC asking for another $ 70 for my mother. Should I be paying only one fee for both parents? Please share your experience.

    Thanks.

Did you send both the fee bills along with the $70 fee or just one? You have to pay only $70 which covers both parents BUT you have to send both the fee bills in the same envelope ensuring that the fee applies to both the NVC cases. If you did this, please call NVC at their customer service number and you might have to provide them with a proof that you did send them the $70 fee. If you did not send both the fee bills even then you will have to send the fee bill alongwith the proof that you had paid $70 earlier for both the fee bills. In either case, it is best to take action per the instructions received from NVC after talking to them on the customer service # given to you in the letter that you got from NVC.

      Thanks

Yes. I send both fee bill in one envelope with only one check ($ 70). I'll call them up and see what they say. Thanks for the reply.

        Reply from NVC

I contacted NVC. The agent told me to get the cashed copy of the cashier's check from the bank. Now, how in the world, you get the copy of the cashier's check or money order. I went to the bank, they said you cannot get it. Only thing they can see is that the check was cashed on 07/09/08. Now what do I do? NVC agent told me that the check & fee bills were not in the same mail. And I am 110% sure that I send check and both fee bills in one envelope.

If the bank is saying that the cashier's check was cashed on 07/09/2008 then they definitely can give you this in writing that the c.c. was cashed on 07/09/2008 and that who cashed it... get that in writing from the bank and you can provide that as a proof.. if not, I guess, please consult an attorney OR send the $70 again and this time, please make copies of the same.
