  • Annual Income in I-864

What should I enter for item# 23 in form I-864:

    23. Current Individual Annual Income.
Enter your current individual earned or retirement annual income that you are using to meet the requirements of this form and indicate the total on this line.

I am a salaried employee. Should I just enter my annual salary?

It is confusing because as part of item# 25 what you enter is the adjusted gross income and not annual salary.

Do I need to submit any proof? The checklist says submitting a letter from employer is optional. It requires just the most current Tax returns+w2s**099s.

    Thanks.

On line 23 you need to fill your current annual income which could be different from your tax returns. This can only be supported by your current paystub and/or employment letter from your employer.

on line 25 you need to fill your annual income based on your tax returns.

What if you file your taxes jointly but are using your own income for the sponsorship? What number do you put down on line 25? I'm looking at the transcript of our most recent joint tax return and it doesn't break income down by who earned it. I will be submitting that transcript as part of the documentation, and I understand there needs to be a match between line 25 and the gross income in the transcript.
