  • 125% above poverty line - what about a recent college grad?

My daughter is getting married, and she will sponsor her husband for permanent residency.

The question is, my daughter graduated from college in 2007, so her income tax returns for the past three years are below the 125% poverty line requirement in the I-864.

She now has a permanent job and her 2008 tax return will be well above the 125% requirement, but is that enough?

I'm asking because she is asking me to sponsor her future husband, and while he is a great guy, I would rather not have to take on that obligation unless completely necessary.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes. They look at the income for this year. Bring employment letter and 3 most recent paystubs.
