    Hello,

I would appreciate if someone please take a moment to answer my questions:

I have filed for my parents immigration (I am a US Citizen) Parents received Packet 3032 - is it ok to appoint an agent for my parents in US to make the correspondence easier or they can give there address back home in india?

Say we appointed an agent here in US - what type of documents will they receive in future? Say If we do appoint an agent here in US - does that require my parents signature for future correspondence? If no, then can the appointed agent here in US sign behalf of them?

Another question: On I-864 - I shall be choosing my brother-in-law to be joint sponsor for my parents? For this do we need to file 2 - I-864 - one on my behalf of myself and the other on my brother in law??

Any other thing to keep in mind?

    Thanks again,

    Hi,
    If they give THEIR address:
The NVC will send the AOS fee (about $400) to your parents. after its been paid, the NVC will send ds-230 form to your parents which they have to fill and sign.
pros and cons of choosing this are:
    1. DELAY in the process, mainly because of mail correspondence. NVC strongly recommends to choose an agent in U.S. for this reason. (an agent can be YOU. the agent doesnot have to be an attorny for this purpose.)
    2. on the other hand, your parents will have extra time to get their medical test done and get the police clearance certificates as the originals have to be submitted only few days before interview.

If your parents choose YOU to be the agent
    a. the AOS fee bill will be sent to you and so are the further correspondence.
    b. you can ASSIST your parents in arranging documents. That is, you can send all the originals from here to NVC. your parents will have to send YOU all the ORIGINALS including their birth certificates, your birth certificates or affidavits, police clearance certificates,ds-230, visa photos etc etc)
otherwise they will be submitting their originals to the VFS office before 10-15days of their interview.(in that case you will have to send your originals to your parents like your birth certificates, your old passports for the proof of relationship, and secondary evidences like Secondary school leaving certificates, college degree certificates etc.etc.
