hi,
I'm in a big confusion now. hope you could help me.
my mother lived in madurai until she got married (at the age of 30) then she moved to chennai and has been living there since.
my question is
1. does she needs to get police clearance certificate from madurai?
2. does she needs to get police clearance certificate from chennai?

her passport was renewed and was fresh at the time of appling I 130. (its only 5 months now.)
3. does she needs to get police clearance certificate from passport office too?
any advice would be appriciated.

only she need chennai police certificate

the immihelp site /police-certificates-for-usa-immigrant-visa/ suggests to get pcc only from the local police.

but the chennai consulate site suggests to get pcc only from passport office. http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/docum...on.html#police

It only talks about initial issuance of passport and not renewal.

Therefore, she needs to get police certificate from police.

Hello Rakhee,

I have same case with my father, but my father just got his passport in April and when I applied for his I 130, it was only 2 months old passport. My question is :
do we count time from date of passport to application of I 130 or application of DS 230 visa for PCC?

I am confused here, please reply me soon. I appreciate that.
