Hello,

PLease help me with this situation:

My father just got his passport in April and when I applied for his I 130, it was only 2 months old passport. My question is :

1 Do we count time from date of passport to application of I 130 or application of DS 230 visa for PCC?

2. Do my father need to get Police Clearance Certificate from passport office too?

I am confused here, please reply me soon. I really appreciate that.

Passport issue date has nothing to do with I-130 cases. your case will have priority date from the date they receive your I-130. Actually when you file I-130 for parents, it's considered to be immediate relative petition so the dates are really don't matter. It's just the whole process that take about 9 months to about a year.

yes, it's recommended that your father get a police clearance stamp in his passport from the passport office prior to his interview.

Police Clearance Certificate Req

Hi,

What are the exact req. for Police Clearance cert from India? Do you need one from every place you have lived over 6 months in the past? I received letter from NVC after submitting DS-230 that we don't have complete info. and they asked for Police Clearance Certs. We sent in for our last two palces of residence. But we had to move around the country due to the job transfers. Do I need to get one from every single place? It will be really hard because of the distance. We moved from South India to North and other states.

Another question is about Passport Office Clearance. If I get my passport renewed, would that Passport Office Police Clearance count instead of Local Police Clearance? or is that valid only for new passports?
