Sponsor with no tax return + joint sponsor???

Hello, I'm a US citizen and I want to apply for my wife's Green Card but I don't have any tax returns yet....I only started working in April of 2008 and taxes are being deducted from my pay checks but I can only file for tax return next year when I get the W2. There is one more thing...since I don't make 125% above the poverty line my stepfather is willing to be the joint sponsor for my wife, he has filed taxes and meets all the requirements so, would it be safe to apply now?

I pretty much have the same question. I'm a US citizen, but I've been living and working abroad for the past 2 years (nearly) before that, I never filed anything because my income was really low...a restaurant job while in school.. everyone has one at some point, lol. I was told I didn't need to file anything, but now I'm not so sure. I admit to being ignorant where taxes are concerned.

Will it be a big problem that I don't have any tax returns to submit? We have a joint sponsor already who meets all requirements.

Get a joint sponsor, does NOT have to be related to you. Contact a CPA or a Tax Consultant and discuss your tax situation. See if you need to file or not to file. If says you do, file it right away.
