Green card for my brother

I'm a US citizen and plan to apply a green card for my brother. We're from Thailand. He's in the US with F1 visa studying an MBA.
1. Does anyone know how long it will take to get an Immigrant Visa number?
2. When I file the application, can I also apply for an EAD card for him so he can work?
3. Can he stay in the US while waiting for an Immigrant visa to become available? If so, can he travel back to Thailand?
4. During the waiting period, can he bring his wife here as well?

I cannot answer all of your questions but can give you information that I know. I hope it helps.

1. You can apply for your brother's Immigration visa under Preference category F4 (family based immigration).
2. You might want to check waiting time for your brother's country at USCIS.gov (it could be 8+ years).
3. Your brother can stay in US as long as he has a valid visa (work,student, etc.) He will need to go back before exp. of his visa(or extend it). Immigration visa petition does not entitle him to say in US.
