  • PCC Help - URGENT

    Hello All,

I'm sponsoring my in-laws. Their I-130 has been approved. I've paid the AOS fees and sent out the I-864 documentation. The next step is to pay IV fees and send Civil documents. (Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Police Clearance (District and passport office), Passport photo copies and Photographs). I've paid the IV fees online but having issue with PCC.

For PCC there are two types required (for people living in India whose passports have been issued more than 6 months ago, which is the case for my in-laws): 1. District level 2. From Regional Passport Office

They'd no problem getting 1. but are getting stuck with 2. It seems that the rule is changed from Dec 18, 2008. The regional passport offices were issuing this clearance certificate (essentially a stamp on passport) earlier but since Dec 18 they've stopped doing it, the only way they would issue such PCC is when you show them Visa Appointement Letter. It's essentially a catch-22 situation.

FYI, this is the case for Ahmedabad Regional Passport Office.

I would appreciate if anyone could post how did you solve this problem.

    Thanks so much in advance.

      PCC from Regional passport office

I did not submit DS230 for my mom yet because I am in the processing of getting PCC from passport office. Not sure they are going to issue one base on what I see in these postings.

        I had the same query..

Ok I had to do this for my mother just now.. I did not have a appointment letter.

Please visit the local police station and show them the NVC letter requesting the Police clearence and also the form that you are filing.

They do accept it in lieu of the appoitment letter.

They have issued a PCC for my mother.

Request nvc that you would submit pcc at time of interview

guys I had a freind from Baroda having same issue. This is how he dealt with.
He wrote a letter and emailed NVC mentioning them that PaSsport based Pcc will be submitted at the time of interview as they issue PCC only on the bassis of interview appointment letters. He submitted the district pcc though.
Nvc agreed and sent his paperwork without pcc. He submitted the Pcc at the time of interview.

For district pcc you can show the nvc fees letter and choice of agent letter ..that should be sufficient. english is still hard a language for the Police stations to understand.
