Just curious if any of the past GC Petitioners (Sponsors) have had a name change related experience. My parents are pending a IR5 interview for GC at the Mumbai Consulate, India. At the time of my citizenship proceedings, I had slightly altered the spelling of my last name per legal provisions in the US citizenship application. The new name spelling and related documentation were all submitted to the NVC at time of US portion of processing, and in due course, both my petitions were approved from NVC, Portsmouth, NH as is the general process. The Mumbai Consulate has only requested my original birth certificate from my parents at time of interview, that does feature my old name. I have also emailed my parents a scanned copy of the legal court order of my name change and a scanned copy of my 10th grade certificate/mark sheet that not only has the old last name but also the name of my father in there. Is this documentation sufficient for proof of relationship? Or do I need to actually send my dad the originals (I hate to have to send originals when everything was preapproved at NVC already and has not been directly requested by consulate either). Any suggestions will be appreciated and thanks in advance.
Best Wishes,
