  • Removing conditions - Mistakes risk

    Dear Immigration Help,

I am writing to ask you what the penalties are if you submit immigration forms with mistakes. I am currently in the process of applying to remove the conditions on my Green Card through marriage. Our lawyer is going to charge $3,000 to do the paperwork so we have decided to do it ourselves for the $565 fee. We have a team of people checking and re-checking our work, but we are afraid of missing something and having the application rejected. Do you know if they just send it back to be fixed, or would they automatically deny it? This is an extremely important situation so we just want to get all of the information we can.

Also, on the I-751 form, there is a spot for dependants. If our child is a US citizen, do we need to list him on the form?

Thank you so much for your help.

What happens really depends upon what kind of mistake you make.

    Read https://www.immihelp.com/family-based-greencard/remove-conditions-marriage-permanent-residence.html for more details.

Yes, you have to list that child as dependent.
