  • Married but work in different cities

I and my husband (US citizen) just got married last month and currently we work/live in different cities. We travel to see each other during the weekend. I plan to move in with him after I get my green card. My question is: on form I-485 which address should I put (mine or his)? Thanks!

The first thing that came to my mind when I read your post was: Are you for real in your marriage?
Ask yourself why this thought popped up!!
And do you honestly believe that a different thought would pop up in the mind of the immigration officer?
Why don't you get move together BEFORE the interview?
Who cares what you gonna do after?
Get into this for real or quit it!!

I am also having the same situation. I live in east cost and my hubby is west cost. We have lived together at my address for 8 months before we got married. But due to economy, we can't quit our job and move into gather.
      So what do you suggest?
      I am a u.s citizen and he is H1-B...
We are showing all possible documents to show that we are married...But why is it soo necessary to move into gather? I mean I know so many couples who meets on weekends due their work..

      Thanks,

Well, there is a high incidence of feaudulent marriages! Prove you're not one of them!
I always try to help the immigrant in a situation like that because whatever happens they are the victims!
USCIS will judge you hard, real hard!
Show them proof that you are real into this marriage:
        1. wedding photos - NOT ONLY OF YOU TWO, BUT WITH PARENTS REALTIVES AND FRIENDS! The more the better!
2.other photos - of family reunions, including mainly photos with parents and closest relatives.
3.do you have kids together? - photos with them! Create a family atmosphere! Show that although living seperately you are a part of the big family! Prove that your marriage is not only based on friendship but deep attachment to family!Family, family and family!!!
4.phone billse proving frequent call to each other, texting, emails
5.tickets or receipts that prove frequent travels to each other (by frrequent I mean once a week!)
6.receipts of activities you do when together (eating out, movies etc.)
And get prepapred for a fraud interview, just in case! Go over all the questions you can find on this website - about what you and your spouse like or dislike etc.
It is gonna be hard but not impossible if your feelings are genuine!
        Good luck!

          mdbaby/gc2009,

First of all my situation was the same as yours when I applied for green card in 2006 . So let me share my experience and may be it would be helpful.

          1. For filing 485, we put in the address at location A where I was working( I had added my wife's name in the lease agreement ).

          2. We did attend the interview and for the interview, I had carried all the airline e-tickets, photographs etc as proof.

          3. Just like john suggested, it a good idea to carry as much documents as possible (which proves your relationshiop ) to the interview

          regards

          amat

Why would you get married if you don't live together?????
If I was an immigration officer, I would never approve such an application. Only in a case where there is real hardship which cannot be avoided....
            My two cents.......
