  • Travel outside US

    Hello Everyone,

I am currently on H1-B visa working for a company in california. I applied for family-based greencard about a month back. I have biometrics done (finger prints) done.

We were thinking to travel to Canada in coming weeks.

Can I do that provided my greencard is still not approved..? Would it anyway affect my greencard application..? Under what visa category would i enter back..?

Urgent response will be highly appreciated as we have to make travel plans asap.

    Thanks,
    Harsh

you cant, if you want you can check with the helpline numbers of USCIS

      Harsh,

I suppose you would have applied for advanced parole as well along with your adjustment of status. YOu can use the advanced parole document as the re-entry permit to come back to US

        Hi Amat,

I did apply for advance parole with 485.. but as of today i dont have anything from USCIS. I dont know at which stage my application is.

My concern is :- Say i go to Canada and in the meanwhile, since i have applied for adjustment of status. My application can get approved and the status in the central database might change to Greencard and i wont have physical greencard while entering back.

Also my H1-B will be invalid since my status would have adjusted to permanent resident.
