  • Advice needed

    Hi every body,

I need help from you guys. I came here as a PhD student on January 2009 on F-1 status. By this time I got my SSN as I am working as a Teaching Assistant in the department. Three year back, in June, 2006 my sister who is a USA citizen filed a petition on my behalf to immigrate me. At that time I didn’t have any SSN and I was in my home country, Bangladesh. Few weeks later I got my EAC number after that till now my file was at the same status.

    Now my queries are-

    1. How can I inform my changing status (SSN, Address in USA. etc) to them?

    2. Whether My SSN and my presence in USA will expedite my file?

    3. Is there any way to expedite my file?

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

    Shahadat

Did you even declare about the immigrant petition on your F1 visa application? I am guessing you did not. When you apply for a GC, it will be reviewed and as you lied on the visa form, it could be used against you.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
