Green Card Application for Mother but no Birth Certificate - Help Please

I am about to apply for a GC for my mother and we just realized that she don't have a birth Certificate. She is in US now and what are the alternatives we have to get a Birth Certificate.

Will INS Agree to a birth certificate that Indian Embassy gives.

Please let me know.

Also, what are the documents that are good for showing the relationship.
