How to obtain marriage certificate for parents?

I am applying for GC for my parents and seems like I need to submit marriage certificate for my parents.

Actually when my parents got married, there was no registration process in India that they knew of and hence they never registered their marriage.
So now, how can we produce marriage certificate?

Is there any other document we can get from some authority in India who can certify their marriage?

It may depend on what the Indian law was at the time. If there was actually no civil authority to register the marriage you could have witnesses to the marraige sign affidavits attesting to the marriage. However, if there was a formal legal process to register the marriage and your parents didn't do so, whether intentionally or being unaware of the process, you may have a problem.
