  • Welcome Notice Expected Time!

    Dear Members,

Me and my wife had our green card interview on May19th, 09 and the officer said he is gonna approve the case and I am gonna receive the card within 30 days. He took my I-94, but didn't stamp the passport. My wife asked why he didn't? He said we stopped doing that and it is unnecessary. We didn't receive the card yet. We got infopass appointment and they said I have to wait for my internal obligation or background cheak, and we I receive my clearance/approval come back to stamp your passport. I called FBI they said my case was cleared the same day my biometrics taken, and sent back to USCIS the same day. I received my EAD by the way.

Now, I am worried what could be wrong in here, and what should be next step? Isn't to receive welcome notice? Please advice.

    Thank you in advance.

At the end of May it was announced that USCIS was slowing down green card production in order to upgrade the system. Before it would only take about 3 weeks to get the GC, now it may take 2-3 months. Local offices are making do by providing stamps in passports as temporary evidence of permanent residency. I suggest you make an appointment with an information officer to get that stamp if you need GC proof because might not get the card until the end of August.

Thank you for your reply. Kindly know that I made an infopass appointment and they said I have to wait for my internal obligation ''background check''. Though I have done biometrics and my case was cleared the same day and sent back to USCIS ''as FBI told me on phone when I called'', I don't know what check they mean this time. Could you lease let me know what can I do? I am really worried about the case to the degree I feel it could be denied later, after approval from the officer at the interview.

        I appreciate your advice.
