  • I-130 for family or married daughter only

Any help or information will be appreciated.

My wife's parents (and brother and sister) are US citizens and they applied in June 2002 for an I-130 sponsored application for married daughter. We reside in South Africa.

We have no being informed via an I-797C that this was approved an is transferred to NVC Portsmouth. The understanding is the pack that needs to be completed before an interview will be the next steps.

    Two questions are:-
    1) any idea of the timing of next steps?
    2) will the greencard / visa be for my wife or for the family (myself and children) - if only for her is there an option we can move with her an apply?

    Thanks

As far as timing goes, nobody knows how long it will take for your date to become current. Right now October 2000 is being processed and if all goes well and visa bulletin moves at best one month per month, your turn should be in 2 years at best. If your application was filed under F3 then the family is going to be eligible to apply when the time comes.

Don't worry you and your children will be able to accompany your wife to the USA....when she's going and just as MT2644 replied to as far as time ..none of us knows...I'm in a similiar position like your wife....only time will tell. I'm also in the F3 category. In the mean time keeping posting any new devlopments on your family's case. It gives people like me hope and a timeframe to work with hopefully. Good Luck
