  • Confused about when to do the medical exam...

    hello,

i keep hearing different stories from people. i know that i must do a medical exam at a civil surgeon's office for the application of the greencard etc, but i dont know what or when to do it. does uscis send me letter stating that i have to go do it or should i do it before i file the papers? im getting married middle of august and want to fill out the papers so long and get it ready.
can anyone tell me who have gone through this process already when should i do the medical and when should i send the results? (if they give me the results). should the results of the test be sent with the application of the I-130 and I-485?

    thanks guys

You need to send a COMPLETED i-693 exam with the I-485 application. So, you need to get it done before you send the paperwork.

so do i have to download it from the immigration website and take it with me to the civil surgeon apointment or how do i do it? my friend said the docter gives you an envelope that is sealed that im not allowed to open and i must send that with all the paperwork.
and also, do i call the surgeon and say i want to make an appointment for an immigration checkup and they do the paperwork?
is there a time limit?can i do it now and file the papers in august?

sorry i just dont know how this works and what to do.

If your medical for your visa was more than a year ago, then you need to have another medical performed by a civil surgeon. The form he/she fills out is the I 693. And yes, I would imagine they would give you that form in a sealed envelope.

I would think having the medical now and filing in August would be fine - it is always best to get it as close to your filing time as possible.
        thank you for your answer.

so i called the doctor and he said its $190 without vaccinations. he said they determine what vaccinations you need. how do they do that? i had a tet**** and MMR shot in January and I had the TB skin test done too. but he said it must be done within 3months. so I have to take the TB skin test AGAIN?

I have limited amount of money, so how can I determine what vaccinations i need?i dont wana go and leave coz i dont have enough money.
