Hi - I realize there are a few posts related to this but I would appreciate any answers to my two questions.
1. I am a US citizen and am applying for GC in USA (1-130 and i-1485 together) for my father only when he visits me in two weeks. My parents were married in 1963 but never registered and now father has been told (verbally) at Marraige Court in India that he cannot get a marraige certificate now as my mother is no longer alive (we have her death certificate). So he has got affidavits in prescribed formats by two witnesses for his marraige. Will this suffice or he needs to get a specific letter from some authority too that marraige certificate is not issuable due to death of my mother? Any other advice/help here?
2. My father was born in 1929, is nearing 80 years and does not have birth certificate. His village that he was born is practically non-existant. His 1 elder brother and 2 elder sisters have already passed away so there is nobody elder to him to provide an affidavit. My father has a matriculation (10th grade) School Leaving Certificate that has his DOB which we will provide. He has a self-affidavit that he used for getting his passport - can this be used? Can an affidavit from a younger brother help - if at all even possible? Also does he need a specific letter from civil authority that BC is not issuable or given his age and circumstances, this may not be necessary.
Thank you very much.
