Wait time exceptions?

I'm a Canadian citizen married to an American citizen and I'm going through the Family based green card process. I have been approved and now I'm waiting for the gov't to contact me. I'm told this can take up to 6 months but the problem is we have just had a family emergency happen in the USA. From what I've read attempting to enter the US before you have your green card is a no-no but my question is is there any kind of exceptions that can be made?

you need to give us more info,,, if you marry a USC you should have sent the i-130 and i-485 together, once the i-130 approved your i-485 should have been approved at the same time or within a month and did you send i-131 for AP also.
