  • Are these priority waiting times for-real??

    Hello everyone,
I have a reality question. I just got my US citizenship This November 2009. I have 4 brothers in all and I was filling out their I-130 this weekend.

But I checked to see the Visa Bulletin and saw that the current priority processing times for their F4 category is AUGUST 1999.

Okay I guess this means they are AS AT TODAY processing the ones for those that filed their in 1999?

But thats 10 Year waiting time! Is this for real? Are there people who have filed for their sibling and it happened to be faster than stated?

Please can someone clear my eyes on this please?

If this long wait is true, are there people who may have given up even when it finnaly gets to their turn?

Or is it better to just submit the form and FORGET ALL ABOUT IT? I'm confused and dont wanna raise their hopes of coming here when infact TEN years is LIKE A LONG DECADE to just sit and wait for coming over..you get what I mean? I want to advice them accordingnly?

    Please advise..thanks.

Yep it looks very real to me! I filed for my siblings in 2006 (Just got their approval letters) so the priority date is aug '06 and right now they are processing sep 1999! So I am guessing another 7 years or so...could be even more depending on the backlog it is going to take forever... I suggest..file it & forget it. When the date is current, NVC will let u know.

      Thanks for your reply.

In reality though..I wonder what people out there do in a decade. I mean by the time these things get approved, they may have married and prolly dont even feel like coming anymore because their life will be set.

May just tell them hey, do what u gotta do down there and flex you mind about coming here in ten years!

I mean it also affects their choices of planning for the future..I guess I am an impatient person and I am trying to find a way to re-explain it to them because they just got excited and thought it was a 1-2 yr thing.

I hate when i have to burst excitement bubble like that..anyone handle stuff like this before?

What would they do if their category did not exist for immigration at all? Thats y you have a choice if or not you wanna come when visa is available! They are not forcing you to immigrate once you get the visa...and if they do want to still immigrate to US, they can bring their kids and spouse with! And there isnt any real explanation for this, its just a simple procedure that you have to follow!

They (US) cannot let all the people in right away...they have a limit to immigrate each category cuz if they do...it prob. wont be the same place! I guess what I am trying to explain is...they do things the way they want...its their country...u want in, u follow the rules...and anyways...its a privilege not a right to be here.

I was reading someplace about how years ago, the wait processing times weren't this bad..but with more and more people joining the Q, its gotten worst. Think abt it this way...in a flight, only certain number of people can board...due to various reasons like seat availability, engine capacity, resources..etc. Its pretty much the same thing. When there are 50 seats available and 5000 people in line, ones at the end of the line gotta be patient if they wana get on the plane at all! And at this point when the country can barely control things for its own citizen, they are trying to regulate chain immigration even more. This category is rumored to be eliminated (Siblings)!
Philippine or some place like that has 23 years wait...a quarter of your life!! lol

I would still say ... file it and forget it ... who knows if its gona be the same to be here 10 years down the row! The wait might turn into a favorable thing...
