  • Filing I130 Abroad

    Hello,

I would like to file for family based GC for my sister, her husband, and their 2 kids. I understand that an American citizen has to file with the local embassy/consulate if they are living aborad (ie outside of US). In my case that embassy would be Mumbai Embassy.

Does anyone know if filing outside of the US will impact the processing time as well as any acceptance/rejection probabilities?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ram

Actually, this is not a hypothetical question.

I am right now debating whether to file my sisters (and her family's greencard) with the Mumbai consulate or do it with Chicago USCIS since I have both the options. I would prefer Mumbai if everything else is the same since Chicago would require family favor.

If there is no difference (compared to "no one knows" -- which I think was probably what you meant based on your answer), then I would want to file with Mumbai.

      That's all.
