Can anybody help me with this; I just get a VISA number from NVC, now I payed the affidavit and IV fees at NVC website and submit the DS230 form to the NVC. My petitioner was my mother who 6 years ago, when she sent the I-130 to the USCIS, she was a LPR but on 2008 she became a US Citizen and now I'm a Unmarried Son from a US CItizen, F2A Preference.

I have a Girlfriend here at my country of residence, we didn't get married. Now that I'm almost get my residence we want to know the best way to bring her with my as soon as possible.

If I get married after I get my residence I know that I have to fill an I-130 form and wait too much time to get her.

I read something about the Following to Join visa but I really don't get it. If I get married right now, without having my GC yet, she can come with me under the FTJ visa status?

Help please to clarify this to me.

Following to join can not be done in this case.

If you get married to her now, you will be downgraded to F3 category.

If you get married to her after you get green card, you will have to file her green card in F2A category. 4-5 years wait.

In your case, if you were to get green card in F3 category (married), and your wife could not accompany you temporarily for some reason such as work commitment or winding up matters, she could do following to join.
