Hello Immihelp,
I posted a question regarding filing I-130 form before, but this time I have a more specific question. I recently married to a girl who lives abroad. I am currently in the permanent resident status. Next year, about this time, I will apply for Citizenship. I have learned that processing time for I-130 differs greatly depending on whether you are filling as a greencard-holder or US citizen.
I was thinking to file this form, but wasn't sure whether I'd better do it now or after I get citizenship. For instance, if I apply now and don't get approve by the time I receive citizenship, I can upgrade my application to transfer it to a different category so to increase the processing time. But what if I get approved before I obtain citizenship??? Will I have in this case to wait until visa number is available for my wife??? Or can my wife immediately obtain visa because the I-130 form is approved and citizens usually don't have a waiting list for this kind of case???
I know I am a little bit repetitive here. However, I want to do everything right preferring to ask twice to be sure I am on the right track. So, I am thanking you for your patience and time.
Sincerely
Pulatik
