Urgent: Do I need Advance Parole??

I am married to a green card holder for 5 1/2 years. We applied for my green card in Dec 2007, and got a notification on Jan 5, 2010 that my application has moved to Lee's Summit, MO for initial review.
I have a PhD and am on an H1B since April 2008. I am planning to travel to India on 23rd Feb, and was planning to get my H1B stamped in Hyderabad to re-enter. Now I am wondering whether if I leave, will my green card application be considered abandoned unless I have an Advance Parole?

Thanks for your quick reply and the useful info! I guess it is ok if I don't apply for an AP.
