I first filed the I-130 for my husband in October, and it was not approved until February, so five months. Probably you just need to wait a while longer.

        time tracker

        Hi!
I filed for my spouse in Feb and I got the approval in March. But my spouse outside of USA did not get any letter or mail till today(26 Apr). So I am not sure if she is supposed to receive any mail of notice of action?
Also how much time will it take for my spouse to have the Visa Interview?
        Please inform.
        Thanks,
        K

          This is to address both PJ and kapad;

<disclaimer - not a lawyer, just someone who has been through the IV process!>

The length of time approval of an I 130 differs from case to case. Typically it should range from a month to months. I know its not helpful, but it can take time. It all depends on you PRIORITY DATE. If it is current, then it should happen soon. Note that this date MAY NOT be shown on your I130 receipt notice.

Eg: In my case, we filed I130 on 15th July 09, it was approved by 14th Sep 09. That is because my priority date was 15th July 09 itself (which was shown on the approval notice).

I129F (K1,K3 visas) on the other hand are usually approved the same month it is received by the USCIS. But that is only if you are going the K1/K3 route.

The spouse who is the beneficiary (i.e. intending immigrant) will not receive any notices of action or correspondence. This is all done with the petitioner in the US. Soon you and your spouse abroad will receive Choice of Agent notices to send back to NVC - better to keep the person in the US as the Agent. My experience - Even though I indicated that I would like the correspondence directly (be my own agent) they 'defaulted' it to my wife in the US!

Typically you should expect to look at a timeline (for Immigrant Visas with Consular Processing) of under a year - a vague estimate I know, but it should be done in that time.

Eg: July 2009 was my initial form submission, I had the interview in April 2010. CAVEAT: I had 2 months delay in the middle due to PCC issues + The interview date is a function of the load at the consulate. If there are many cases then even if your priority date is current you may have to wait a month or two extra. I sent in the final docs to NVC in Feb 2010 and the interview was in April - Usually the Consulate schedules all interviews for the current month BEFORE the 15th of the PREVIOUS month. So keep that in mind.

A very 'short form' series of events:

Send I130 > Get Receipt (WAC#) > Get Approval > USCIS Sends Case to NVC (BMB# - for Bombay consulate, varies depending on consulate) > NVC Choice of Agent Forms > NVC IV Fee Invoice + NVC AOS (affidavit of support I-864) Fee Invoice > Pay (credit card is best and fastest) > Get Document cover Sheets > Petitioner/Sponsor sends I864 + Tax returns + supporting docs + Cover Sheet > Beneficiary sends required ORIGINAL documents (Birth cert, Marriage cert, PCC's etc.) + DS230 I & II (unsigned part II) + Cover Sheet to NVC (this step is called 'packet 3') > If anythings missing you get an RFE or Checklist Cover Letter > Send what is required to NVC > Get Interview appointment letter > NVC forwards to Consulate > Then Consulate sends appointment letter ('packet 4') > Take copies of originals sent to NVC + any remaining documents requested but not sent and deposit it at the VFS office within 10 and 7 WORKING DAYS of the interview > Go for interview > Then the rest is upto the individual behind the glass partition at the consulate

          Hope this helps!

            Hi!

Thanks for the info. So what kind of approval will I get here? Is it a mail or email? What is the NVC Choice of agent? Will that come to me or to my spouse?

              some more questions here?

              Dear Gaurav
Thanks for the insight. What is the fee for NVC IV Fee Invoice + NVC AOS (affidavit of support I-864) Fee Invoice. Who has to pay that fee? Tha spouse in US or the spouse outside? Do we need to have the PPC ready at this time when we just have the notice of action?
              Please guide me.

I am ready to explain my experience to all which I passed through

                  My interview scheduled

                  Dear All

My I130 interview is scheduled at ABU DHABI in July last week. I am bit nervous too. NVC not asked any docs as I submitted all required originals.
But unlike in India here there is no VFS to help the visa seekers.

I can do nothing except to wait till my Interview.

Anybody who attended the interview in ABU DHABI pls share the experience. I have searched but not found any expereience posted on the web.

                  Immihelp pls provide valubale suggestions

Got my visa from abu dhabi

                    Dear all

I got my visa from ABU DHABI US EMBASSY and I am in USA now.

My interview was very cordial and it took around 3 hours to finish the entire interview process and the actual interview was around 15 mins.

I reached 07.30 am at the embassy and my time was 08:00am we were called in around 8 am and security check done at the gate. then we were directed to the main bldg where we got token and long wait starts. at around 09:00 am we had to submit our medical report and vaccination reports. then around 10 00 am actual interview took place

she asked about 3 to 4 question and confirmed that my papers are all in order and they are issuing me a visa

I collected the visa on 28th july and reached USA on 21st Aug 2010
                    hope this helps

My wife filed her I130 in April this year 2010, it is still under review 5 months later, what do you all do for insurance for your significant other? As she has no SSN.

                          Thanks

I want to know if any one had changed their interview date at ABU DHABI and how long it took to get rescheduled. My wife has her interview scheduled but we want to change that date.

Any past experiances will be helpful. I also want to know what kind of questions do they ask.
