principal applicant green card surrender

hi, i recently got my immigrant visa approved (family sponsored case).

i have one question that i want to ask, after getting our green cards, suppose the principal applicant in the case decides to surrender his/her green card, what would happen to the status of the dependent beneficiaries of the case?

please help me with this problem.

It would not affect the status of the derivative beneficiaries who have already become permanent residents (i.e. entered the US with their immigrant visas) by the time you abandon residence
