  • NVC Required Civil Documents

I am sponsoring my mother's immigration visa. I logged in to the NVC site, made the necessary payments, and did both the Affidavid and the Support document.
I also completed the DS-260 long form.

Now, the step for Civil documents is incomplete, and the screen shot below asks for some documents, I have highlighted my questions in Red:
PETITIONER'S MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE I understand that this is my marriage certificate (the Petitioner)
PETITIONER'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE my birth certificate (the Petitioner)
    PASSPORT BIOGRAPHIC PAGE
are those for me (the Petitioner) or of my Mother (the applicant?)
    PHOTOGRAPHS
are those for me (the Petitioner) or of my Mother (the applicant?)
    BIRTH CERTIFICATE
are those for me (the Petitioner) or of my Mother (the applicant?)
    MARRIAGE TERMINATION DOCUMENTATION (1st MARRIAGE)
are those for me (the Petitioner) or of my Mother (the applicant?)
    MARRIAGE TERMINATION DOCUMENTATION (2nd MARRIAGE)
are those for me (the Petitioner) or of my Mother (the applicant?)
    POLICE CERTIFICATE (Country)
what is a police certificate and is it for my Mother?
    This is getting very confusing...
    Please help,
    thank you!

    For applicant.
Police certificate is a document that show that the applicant doesn't have past/current problems with the law.

So are all documents in this list for the applicant only? If so, why does it say "PETITIONER'S MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE"

No, not all. The ones you asked in red are the applicant (your mother), those who say "petitioner" are your documents.
They need to confirm that you can petition her, your status in USA, confirm the relationship, etc. that's why they need documents from you and your mother.

ok, thanks so much, after thinking about it, it makes sense how it is worded. I hope they can streamline this process as some of these documents were already filed in other steps (l did it while filing the I-130).

          thanks for the help!

These are only some formals that they need to complete your mother's application. I usually don't like to complete all these applications by myself and before starting the process of application I consult with lawyers and see if the site I intend to apply to is verified by the government, and what documents they need to complete the process. If you also need such help click here, and find the company that always helps me to prepare all my documents and consults me before any application. Sometimes when I don't have a lot of free time I ask them to complete the application by themselves and prepare everything so that I will need just to come and put my signature.
