Hi, I am a U.S. citizen looking to sponsor my brother for a family-based greencard.
One of the required documents to sponsor sibling is "a copy of your birth certificate and a copy of your sibling's birth certificate showing that you have at least one common parent."
The birth certificate from our country of origin also shows marital status, where I appear as single. I am married to a U.S. citizen but due to an extremely bureaucratic process haven't been able to update my marital status in my country of origin's civil register.
Do you think submitting the application with a birth certificate that shows me as single (as opposed to married) presents any risks? Could that inaccuracy slow down the process, or even void the application?
Thanks for any guidance.
