I'm a USC and my spouse is a Peruvian national. We have our green card interview scheduled for 6/20 and I've been reviewing the required documents. It asks for the spouse's (aka my) birth certificate. Does this need to be the original certificate, a certified copy, or just a regular copy? I don't have the original or certified copy on hand and I'm concerned I won't be able to get one in time if that's what they need. I also have a valid US passport if that works instead.

Hey, just wanted to share my experience.. I am beneficiary and my wife petitioner.. she has both original birth certificate and passport but I only had photocopy birth certificate (not even certified).. VO asked for originals and I told I don’t have.. she said that’s fine we have your passport..try to get one before the interview obviously but if you can not, I would not lose sleep over it.. good luck
