  • Affidavit of Support & Agent of Choice and Address letter

I am a US citizen. I sponsored a GC for my brother 10 years ago, under Category 4. His priority date is August 2000.

Generally, how long before the priority number becomes current/visa number is available, do the petitioner receive the Affidavit of Support (I-864 form) processing fee bill, and the applicant receive the Agent of Choice and Address letter containing the form DS-3032 ?

When my mother (a green card holder) sponsored my other brother under category 2B (Unmarried child 21/older of permanent resident), we received those 2 forms about 1 year before his priority number became current.

I understand that for category 4, they are currently processing priority date Jan 2000, which is less than 9 months of my brother's priority date.
But, neither I or he have received the Affidavit of Support (I-864 form) processing fee bill or Agent of Choice and Address letter containing the
    form DS-3032.

I am worried that they have sent the forms, but they got lost in the mail.

    Thank you for your help.

The best guidance they give is they will send the forms "when the priority dates are about to become current".

      Thank you for your help.

So, it's pretty normal to haven't received the 2 forms even though it is less than 9 months of my brother's priority date ?

        Yes.

Nine months ahead is too long ahead.

          Thanks again.

          1 more question.
When my mother sponsored my other brother under category 2B (Unmarried child 21/older of permanent resident), we received the 2 forms about 1 year before his priority number became current.
And, on the "Information about the Choice of Agent and Address Form" leaflet that NVC sent for that case, it says "When there is an immediate visa available or likely to be available within the next 9 months, NVC will send a letter enclosing the Choice of Agent and Address Form (DS 3032) to all applicants... "

Does it mean that for category 2B, the 2 forms are sent a lot earlier than in category 4 ?

          Thank you

                Hi Fvpt
some categories hav started to get the paper work like choice of agent form 1 year earlier then their respective priority dates. Not sure if this is normal for them. Even i have recieved the paper work 1 year before my f2b file for india gets current. My pd is may 2003 and visa buletin says current is Mar2002. So i have recived paper work much much earlier then the estimated time. Has your brother in f2b seen any updates on interview front..? Like does sending paper work fast shows improvement in the interview line...
Well i have other freind of mine and his PD is just 2 months away from current f4 category and he also hasnt got any updates from nvc.

                  Hi,
                  thanks for the reply.
Did you say your category is 2B (Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older)) ?
My other brother's case got dropped because he got married, so the case in invalid.
So, may be it's correct that different category receive the paper work in different times, and for category 4 it takes longer ?
