  • Am I aging out ?

    Greetings,
I applied for my I130 when I was 20 years old (born on January 3rd 1998) and my PD is January 18th 2018 under the F2A category.
However, it seems like I should be safe from aging out considering my case hasnt still been approved by USCIS. Thing is, someone told my parents that cases are taking 4 years to be approved in cases like mine, but is that person talking about the USCIS approval processing time, or did she just believe I aged out ?.
TL;DR am I looking to age-out once my case gets approved? and what's the average time for my case to be approved ?
    Thank you kindly!

    Your age _should_ be preserved

    /usa-immigrant-visa-process/cspa-calculator/

But the CSPA is a bit complicated, at least to me, and not all time that the visa is pending counts, depending on the type of application

    The basic calculation is:

Age at Time of Visa Availability - Pending Time = CSPA Age

Visa availability is the later of two things: visa approval or when the visa bulletin is current. For you, since F2A is current, the later date would be when your visa is approved.

Let's say your visa is approved tomorrow.

Your age would be 21 years & 7 months.

Visa would be pending for 1 year, 6 months, 16 days.

    21 years, 7 months - 1 year, 6 months, 16 days is approx. 20 years and a couple weeks.

So no age out under that calculation.
