  • parents green card help

    Hi Everyone,
I am thinking about applying green card for my parents. My Mom is here for 3 months and my dad just got to the US for 1 week. Should I apply for both of them together right now? or I apply for my mom first and then wait for 2 months to apply for my dad. How does this work? I am kind of confused. Any advice would help. Thanks.

      Hi conan2008,

I do not get the point why would you want to wait for 2 month to file an I-130 for your dad. You can file for both your mom and dad at the same time. Remember, if you are filing for both parents, you must file a separate petition for each parent. Hope this helps.

        Thanks for your response.
The reason to wait for 2 months to file for my dad is that people told me it is not safe to file right after they got to the US. My mom came here first and my dad came here later.

There is nothing like that (if your parents are already in US) on the contrary, its risky to fly on a vistor visa once your I130 is filed, becasue they know the intent is to immigrate and they deny entry (first hand experience with my father) on any other visa. Once you file I130 it will be risky to fly back to US on a non immigrant visa.

Thanks so much. Then I will file for them together.
