Green card sponsor for Canadian sister

Hello,

my real sister is 16 years old and is Canadian citizen. I read that it takes 20 years to sponsor siblings because of backlog. I am 21 and still studying; since she is a Canadian do we have any chance to get it process in any other category to avoid current backlog of 20 years?

any suggestions would be helpful.

Assuming she was not born in India, Mexico, or the Philippines, the wait in the F4 category is only about 13 years.

If you could petition your parents to immigrate (who would be in the Immediate Relative category with no wait for visa numbers, so they can immigrate in about a year), and then your parent can petition your sister (their child) once they enter the US. An under-21 unmarried child of a permanent resident is in the F2A category, with about a 2 year wait for visa numbers. This would be a much faster way, assuming that your parents want to move to the US.

yes she was born in Canada. Plan is to sponsor my parents, (quick info, I was born in USA and my parents moved for jobs in Canada and my sister was born there); we were thinking if I can sponsor my parents GC, but my parents want my sisters status to be clear before we initiate. I would explore F2A category.

can you please provide one more info, let’s say when my sister is 19 or 20; below 21; so applicant ion still qualifies for F2A? I meant if age crosses 21 while application is under process; it’s still okay?
