Filing Adjustment of Status (I-485) for Father (WIdower)

Hello,

I am trying to file I-485 for my father, who is a widower. From reading through the sites, it appears that I would need the marriage certificate of my parents. My father does not have his marriage certificate available. I understand that I would need two affidavits instead, from 2 witnesses that were present at the marriage.
My question is pertaining to my specific situation - My mother passed away last year, I am filing for my father. In this situation, would I still need their marriage certificate ?

renuka2020, I submitted marriage certificate for my mother she is a widow. I submitted two affidavits from 2 witness that were present at the marriage. Let me know if you need more information.
